PPMD needs YOUR voice! We are calling on all members of our community to urge their congressional representatives to sign the FY26 Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophy Appropriations Letter.
This critical letter, led by Representatives Doris Matsui (D-CA) and Troy Balderson (R-OH) in the House, requests vital federal funding and program direction to advance research, therapy development, and public health initiatives for Duchenne and Becker. Thanks to strong Congressional support, there has been real progress, but we cannot afford to lose momentum.
The letter asks for:
- $15 million for the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Research Program (DMDRP) at the Department of Defense.
- $10 million for the CDC’s Muscular Dystrophy Program to enhance research, surveillance, and newborn screening initiatives.
- Continued engagement and data-sharing improvements by the NIH and FDA to speed research and therapy access.
- Timely review of newborn screening for Duchenne.
